Dual degree program : 1year(SMU-GSIS) + 1year (AU) + 0.5year (Thesis for both AU/SMU)

The Masters of International Service (MIS) is a relatively new graduate degree program that enables students from partner institutions to come to AU through a particular degree track called the International Studies Track (IST). Therefore we often refer to this program with our partners as the MIS IST. You are correct that students from SMU could come here for two semesters (Fall, starting in late August and Spring, starting in early January) to complete a total of 18 credits to earn the full degree. This is normally a 30 credit degree program, but since we would be accepting students who accepted to or have recently completed a SMU graduate degree, we would honor that degree by reducing the AU degree by 12 credits.
